What do you charge for boarding?
Charges are determined by the size of the pet guest and type of accommodations. For a more detailed list of our rates refer to our boarding page.  Charges do include dry food and dosing of basic medication needs.  An additional charge may be added for an after hour pick-up or drop-off.

Do you offer multiple Pet rates?
Family Pets boarding together receive multiple pet rates however, we reserve the right to separate the pets to separate runs if this becomes necessary for any reason.  If separation is necessary the second pet goes to a full rate for the accommodations provided.  We reserve the right to refuse to board any pet that is a health threat to other animals or whose aggressive behavior is a threat to other animals or kennel staff.

What vaccines do you require?
We'll need the name of your veterinarian and his/her contact information. We require all pets be current on all vaccinations and to be in good health and require having this information faxed to us ahead of time. We require Rabies and DHLPP-CV annually, Bordetella within 6 months prior to visit for dogs and rabies, FVCRP, and FeLV for cats. Please call your vet's office and have them fax vaccination records to us at 478.994.7699 48 hours prior to your arrival to speed up the check-in process.

Do I need to bring my pets’ food, food bowls, toys and bedding?
Kottage Kennels & Suites is happy to provide everything for your Pets needs.  If you would like to bring something special from home make sure the item is not fluff filled and small enough to fit in the washing machine. Nylabones, Kongs, and favorite toys are accepted.  Items not permitted are rawhide and greenies.  Clearly mark all items with your pet’s name in permanent marker.  All personal items must arrive new or freshly cleaned.  Kottage Kennels & Suites is not responsible for any personal blankets, beds or toys which may become damaged or lost.

Holistic food and treats are provided at Kottage Kennels & Suites.  We feed an all natural dog and cat food, “Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul,” which contain no corn, dyes or artificial preservatives.  If you would like to obtain further information their website is: www.chickensoupforthepetloverssoul.com.

You are welcome to bring your own food if your Pet is on a special diet or has an overly sensitive stomach.  Kottage Kennels & Suites will be happy to do so at no additional charge.  However, due to the added time involved with feeding owners food, all food must be placed in plastic zip lock bag, sealed, and labeled with your Pet’s name.  Each bag must contain one feeding.  Example: If your Pet stays with us for 10 days and eats twice a day, there should be 20 separate labeled bags.  This eliminates confusion and enables your Pet to be fed the proper amount.  Canned food must be labeled with your Pet’s name and amount to be fed per feeding.  Personal food containers are not permitted due to limited storage space.

Does my pet get to go outside, if so, how often?
Each pet guest has the opportunity to spend as much time outside as weather permits.  In addition to their inside accommodations, each pet guest has an individual shaded outside run furnished with a cot, fresh water, and overhead fans for those warm summer days.  They also get to spend time in one of the six play yards for a minimum of five times a day in 15-20 minute intervals.

Do you require a bath prior to boarding?
No, but we trust all owners are responsible for the care of their pet.  If a pet comes in extremely dirty or with fleas, pets will be given a bath and or groom at the owners’ expense.

Are all dog breeds welcome?
Yes, we believe there are no bad breeds.  The disposition of the pet is what is determined.  We reserve the right to refuse to board or groom any pet that is a health threat to other animals or whose aggressive behavior is a threat to other animals or kennel staff.

Do you board dogs and cats that are not spayed or neutered?
We do board dogs and cats that are not spayed or neutered, however we do not board any pet that is in heat, pregnant, or nursing.

How do I determine the size of accommodation for my pet?
We will help you choose the right accommodation depending on the needs of your pet(s).  Great Danes, Great Pyrenees, German Shepards, Mastiffs and all large breeds will require a bunk or a suite.  Refer to the boarding page for specific accommodation information.

What if my pet gets sick during their stay?
We will contact you at the emergency numbers you provide and we will contact your local veterinarian to consult and will transport your pet to your personal vet or our on call veterinarian for appropriate treatment.  For vomiting, diarrhea, bladder infections, severe ear infections or any life threatening illness we will take your pet to the nearest veterinarian.

Yes.   Medication is extremely important and requires proper handling.  Be sure to bring any special medicines your pet is currently taking along with dosing directions and any special instructions your vet may have provided.  All medication must be counted out and in a daily/weekly pill box container.  List on a piece of paper the Pet’s name, name of medication(s), dosage, and reason for medication.  For those pets which need insulin or allergy shots, please place vial in a zip lock bag and labeled with your pets name on it.  Provide a needle and syringe for each shot given during the duration of their stay.  It is also recommended that a couple of extra doses by left just in case the Pet is left longer that originally planned due to unforeseen circumstances.

How much is grooming and what does that include?
Grooming costs depend on coat length, coat condition, how long since your pet's last grooming, and your style or service requests.  All grooms include a deluxe bath, ear cleaning, nail clipping, and expressing anal glands.

Forms
In order to provide the best care possible for our guests, we adhere to certain policies and procedures designed to ensure the safety, protection, and comfort of the pet guests we serve. For our new clients, completing a Guest Registration/Client Agreement form is the first step to joining the Kottage Kennels & Suites family. If you would like to print and fill this out ahead of time, click here and the form will open in MS Word.

What precautions are taken to prevent communicable diseases?
At Kottage Kennels & Suites our pet guest’s health is our #1 priority.  We require that all vaccinations be up-to-date prior to arrival.  Any other visible health issues must be addressed prior to boarding or grooming.  We strive to keep accommodations and surrounding areas clean at all times.  We use a veterinarian approved sanitizing solution on all accommodations as well as providing fresh blankets for each pet guest.   All food and water bowls are washed daily in a sanitizing dishwasher.  While we make every effort to keep our guests safe and healthy, please keep in mind that anytime pets are near one another there is a possibility for communicable diseases and parasites.
